We got told off in Hong Kong

We got told off in Hong Kong

Hey friends, our friend Matthew just took our hot-off-the-fashion-press organic canvas jackets (launched today) to Hong Kong.

Nine years had passed since he was last in the city.

He almost forgot how loud people could talk, how rude they could be, and how endearing that was.

Just not quite as endearing as the food

Egg tarts and pineapple buns. Dimsum and tea.

He’d tried looking for it elsewhere in the world, but it’s very hard to find. China Town is about the only place he could come close.

But in Hong Kong the banquet is everywhere.

And everyone gathers around tables to enjoy it like every day is some special occasion.

Two-bed apartments in Hong Kong are sold at a price we can’t afford,

But the food is for everyone who wants to sit down and savour good company and good things.

This is how ethical fashion should be.

Clothing that feels Chinese-New-Year special, but priced as everyday as the good food in Hong Kong.

Our new canvas jackets embody this idea.

Limited edition. Like they were born for a special occasion. But priced as everyday as the good food in Hong Kong.

Whoops, we might not have made enough of these...

Canvas jackets are a whole new ball game compared to our best-selling T-shirts. Design, fit and fabric have to flow together to make a jacket fly.

So we hedged out bets with this one, and made it limited edition.

Maybe that was a mistake – when we asked thousands of you what to make next, your voice was clear. Canvas jackets would be next on the menu.

We thought we took a risk last year when we launched our corduroy jacket.

And well, that sold out.

So maybe we should have made more than 200 canvas jackets.

If they sell out instantly and you don’t get your hands on one, the good news is we’ve got plenty more new items launching in the coming weeks.

Here are the hot deets:

  • Limited edition, two colours
  • 100 available in Pine Green
  • 100 available in Ecru
  • GOTS certified organic cotton canvas
  • Limited edition batch #1 woven label
  • A perfect spring layer, with enough space for a jumper underneath

As always, they’re made in a solar assisted factory by garment workers paid good wages, and you can even tip them directly (we’ve got stories coming soon about what they’re doing thanks to your generosity).

A FLAMING HOT ORANGE BUTTON

P.S. When we were interviewing for a designer last year. We discovered canvas jackets are a favourite among fashion designers.

When we asked them what they thought we should make next. They said a canvas jacket too. Portfolio after portfolio. Same answer.

We’re all designers of sorts.

We've all had our hands on lego bricks, and we've all done doodles in the margins of school books,

And we've all made that 'signature dish' with ingredients that shouldn't go together but it turns out... actually they really shouldn't.

We can't all cook like Hong Kong.

But who knows? Maybe when you put this jacket on, your designer inspiration will strike.

Maybe we should all try your next signature dish.
