Today marks a big day for Yes Friends, we’re launching five new dresses. You read that right five. It feels like we've come a long way since our first black and white tees, five years ago.
A SNEAK PEEK
Not only are we re-releasing last year’s Linen EcoVero™️ dress, now in French Blue and Black (we’ve not touched the shape because you loved it)...
And not only a little black dress, known as the “LBD” in some circles, the kind of circles that Audrey Hepburn would have winked at in 1961 while giving her little black dress a little swish…
But also…
An organic cotton, seersucker (more on that later), pattern dress in two colours.
While we’re not a haircare brand, this dress has the kind of voluminous, milky smooth style that Pantene Pro V. can only dream about.

All five releases can be dressed up or down. All have pockets. All made by garment workers paid good wages.
SEE THEM ALL
See ya suckers. Or seersucker. Or shir-o-shakhar (it means milk and sugar).
In Persian, shir-o-shakhar describes the ‘milk’ feel of smooth fabric puckered with granular ‘sugar’-like fabric.
Once a silk and cotton double act, these days seersucker fabric is usually made with cotton woven at different tensions: A higher tension weave combined with a slacker weave (the kind that bunks off work in the heat of the day).
The weaving is a pretty slow process, but this fabric is happy to take its time.
Apparently it was a big thing in the slow summers of 19th Century New Orleans. The texture would lift the fabric from the skin and make the southern swamp feel a little more like the Oregon coast – or another place where cool breezes exist.
Because the structure of seersucker is soft, it’s perfect for big voluminous sleeves, exactly the kind you’ll find on our new cotton dress – and our sleeves are lined with jersey fabric, so the dress sits as gently on your arms as a Mississippi butterfly.
It’s also got the swishiest skirt you could hope to swish.
Details-wise, there’s a small bit of shirring at the back of the waist to assist the fit, and subtle covered buttons lined down the front.
And somewhere in the fabric we must have sewn in some invisible magnets that attract compliments. When we’ve worn the samples ahead of release, people have stopped to us saying…
“No way – that’s Yes Friends?”
And “Tell me when that dress is getting released!”
Here’s your answer.
Grab it in a sage and white stripe. Or burgundy and white gingham. For every occasion.
