You don’t see this very often.
Last year, we launched YF. Sport with our high performance recycled polyester range.
But many of you were asking – can you do cotton? The kind of organic cotton that made you fall in love with Yes Friends?
Now cotton is not common in sportswear – organic cotton is an even rarer find.
But today, we’re releasing three new products for YF. Sport – shorts, leggings and a matching base layer top.
They’re all organic cotton. Perfect for running, pilates, strength training, climbing, you name it.
They’re also perfect for… brunch.
We asked you last year, “What activities do you do in your sportswear?
…and a lot of you mentioned brunch. And maybe that’s exactly what this time of year needs.
Right now it’s January and in the UK it’s categorically the worst month of the year. No Christmas. No daylight after 4:30pm. And any hope of warmth is still two months away.
We all have our own ways of coping.
Some of us get through with a new regime – a running routine, an exercise class or by starting a new Gaelic football or camogie season (at least one of you said you do this).
Some of us adopt a different kind of regime… such as making sure you get at least one brunch every Saturday. Or making sure you’re in each evening to watch the next live episode of Traitors, so no one else spoils how the finale ends, and so you don’t get into any more fights, where certain things are said and not meant. And we’re really very sorry, Mum, for any hurt we caused you.
But whether you’re getting cosy or sweaty, getting up for an 11am brunch or a 6am jog, here’s three new organic cotton sportswear items to help you out.
No. 1 – Organic Leggings
Last year, we released high performance leggings designed for intense workouts.
But sometimes low-intensity is exactly what you need.
If you’re taking up yoga or pilates, or simply need something soft to lounge in, you don’t need anything particularly aerodynamic.
But you do need pockets.
And you need ultimate comfort and stretch.
Made from organic cotton, with side pockets big enough for a phone, you’ll feel just right in the middle of a Tiger Curl, or simply curled up on the sofa.

No. 2 – Organic Cotton Shorts
These shorts are pretty rare – they’re made of organic cotton ripstop.
Ripstop is what they use to make tents and sails, kites and hot air balloons.
It’s as durable as a military parachute – and was originally developed for WWII paratroopers to glide down safely behind enemy lines.
Typically ripstop fabric is made of polyester or nylon. Almost never cotton.
These are the rare cotton kind, with 2% elastane for a little stretch, making them perfect for all sports and workouts. And they’ve got side splits that give you a little more movement – you almost won’t notice you’re wearing them.
They’re finished with zip pockets, a draw cord and a reflective YF. logo, keeping you a bit more visible. Though you should probably rip the logo off if you’re parachuting behind enemy lines at night.

No. 3 – Base layers
If clouds were close-fitting, they might look like these base layer tops.
They’re purposefully lightweight and breathable so you don’t get too hot while running. And they’ll still keep you warm if your trainers are crunching over frost in the park – with a couple of thumb hooks so you can keep your upper arms and hands covered.
They’re also soft enough to make even the most biting of winds feel a little gentler.
Designed to match our leggings, they’re also a great option for pilates and yoga. And brunch, of course.
GO ORGANIC
As always, everything we’re releasing today is made with organic cotton by garment workers paid good wages.
Every purchase is helping us to transform the sportswear industry. We’re probably in way over our heads. But with you, we’re making ethical affordable, bit by bit, mile by mile, brunch by brunch.
