This really is a reunion.
Not only is denim back for the first time in three years…
Hoodies and sweatshirts are back too alongside a big restock of T-shirts, long sleeves, shirts, boxers, all with brand new colours for this autumn and made sustainably by garment workers paid good wages.
Whichever one of you anonymously told us, “I am on my knees begging you to bring back the hoodie”... this is your moment to stand up and smell the organic cotton.
BE REUNITED
Important advice for your next job interview
If you haven’t been to a job interview in a wood panelled room before, let us tell you, it’s a daunting experience.
You step past 10ft high oak doors and into a room where everything is older than you are, from the fireplace to the armchairs.
And there’s nothing like a few 19th century paintings hanging on the wall to say, ‘you’re probably out of your league here.’
But a friend of ours might have found a way around this...
He went to a job interview with a decades-old company with decades-old expectations.
Everyone wore a suit or a suave dress, and if the movies are anything to go by they probably drank whisky religiously at 6pm each day too.
Our friend turned up in a hoodie and a pair of jeans.
The real job he wanted had fallen through, and he was feeling the unemployed pressure of ‘I suppose I should apply to everything’. So here he was in this old-world, wood-panelled room, his casual attire making him feel as out of place as a happy character in a Tim Burton film.
The first few minutes of the interview were stilted and formal. Exactly what you might have expected.
But then something happened.
We’re reading between the lines here, but something magical can happen when you wear a hoodie to a place you shouldn’t – a wedding, a political summit, a formal job interview.
You get comfy.
In a setting where our friend should’ve felt out of place, he relaxed into his high backed wooden chair until the grandeur didn’t seem strange anymore, but old and homely.
And when the interviewers asked the next question, he found he was able to answer easily, casually.
And the next one. And the next one.
He could have been David Attenborough at a pub quiz where the specialist topic was Planet Earth.
And at the end of the interview, they shook his hand and offered him the job.
Kudos to him.
When you’re trying to impress, it’s easy to fall for the lie that people are out of your league.
But it’s easier to remember what matters when you’re comfy.
So next time we feel the urge to impress, maybe we should all lean back into an oversized hoodie, get comfy and remember ‘so and so is out of your league’ is a silly phrase anyway.
GET COMFY
P.S. If you do wear one of our hoodies to a job interview in a wood panelled room, we bear no responsibility for the outcome. But we can promise you this…
“This hoodie is like wearing a hug. It’s soft, warm and comfortable, washes well and still looks good after much wear.” – Máire R.
“Love this sweater. I bought it for my boyfriend, but actually wear it most of the time. Looks good on him and on me and it's so soft and comfy..” – Zarina B.
And if it lands you a job where you can drink scotch at 6pm on the nose, cheers to you.
