The Oxford shirt has arrived
When you think of Oxford you might think of rowing boats and old buildings.
Or maybe a pretty postcard city where you once bought some killer fudge.
Or maybe the time after a friend’s wedding when you lay awake at 3am in an Oxford hostel, in 32 degrees centigrade, and infinity percent humidity, and you couldn’t even bring yourself to cool down in the communal showers because the strip lighting in there would send your body into an even higher state of alert. And when daylight did come you stumbled out into the morning heat fog and through the twisting limestone alleys into a shop where you bought some killer fudge.
Apparently though, Oxford shirts weren’t even invented in Oxford, but in Scotland – the makers just really liked university names.
The original Oxford weave was so breathable that 19th century tennis and polo players would throw on the shirts for casual games (so does this shirt actually belong in YF. Sport?!)
Basically, if you do find yourself in Oxford on a wildly hot day, we hope this shirt will be your friend.
Our organic cotton weave leaves the shirt very slightly textured, giving it the kind of subtle beauty that’ll make people say “hey, nice shirt”.
We notch up that whole subtle charm with an embroidered Yes Friends tonal logo on the inside placket. The kind of almost-invisible writing you can point to if anyone asks you where you bought an ethically-made shirt that looks like it should be twice the price you paid.
It’s got all the usual Yes Friends qualities – organic cotton, made in a solar-assisted factory by garment workers paid good wages. The buttons are recycled plastic too.
We could go on, but we wanted to give you a moment to…

P.S. There’s a really big, serious internal dispute going on at Yes Friends.
On one side of the debate are the all-dayers – the people who say there’s no reason for a change of clothes after work.
On the other side are the comfy-hunters – who immediately put on their comfiest clothing the moment they get home.
Maybe our new organic cotton Oxford shirt will finally create peace between the two warring factions. Hear us out.
It’s an obvious choice for office work or one of those smart-casual events that nobody knows how to dress for. You can also totally throw it over a T-shirt, roll up the sleeves and casually head on down to the beach. And once you’ve done that, you could end up in a similar situation to our friend Claire J. who says she got one of our organic T-shirts for work, “but it is so comfortable that I’ve lived in it since.”
So even if you usually work from home in your pyjamas, you might happily find yourself bedding down in this shirt instead.
