There are some places you shouldn’t do parkour
Clues to this include: priceless paintings, grandfather clocks against the wall, and staircases lit by stained glass coloured with coats of arms.
This describes exactly where we were a couple of weeks ago, when we shot our brand new AW25 collection in a centuries old building.
The place even had an orangery. That’s an entire room dedicated to growing oranges or something.
This isn’t our usual habitat. We rocked up with hoodies, an ancient globe, tennis rackets and a model wooden ship. We threw our backpacks next to the wood carved pigeons, and set up a ladder as bright as Bob the Builder’s hat.
The staff here didn’t seem to mind though – this ancient building is now used for events and housing students, so we’re sure they’ve experienced weirder.
We were in a maze. Doors all look the same in wood panelled rooms, and plenty of them you can’t see until you look closer – they just look like bits of wall with a handle – and we definitely stepped into places we shouldn’t have been.
If it wasn’t for a godsent, laminated sign pointing us in the direction of the bathroom, we might have been in real trouble when nature called.
Speaking of trouble…
Maybe you remember Freddie, the MI6-style photographer known for performing death defying stunts to try and get the perfect angle.
It turns out Freddie wasn’t the one with the biggest stunts this time.
Instead we found out that our model, Posi, does parkour when he’s not modelling, and he demonstrated just how hot our new denim looks when it's upside down, mid-backflip…
And in case you’re wondering, the motion blur is hiding a super secret release we can’t tell you about for a few more weeks.
Safe to say, that pic wasn't on our shot list for the day.
Pretty soon, we were going back to our homes, looking around and wondering, “where’s all the dark mahogany?”
Even the plug sockets in that manor house were beautiful. Not just a white block slapped against the wall… these plug sockets were subtle and golden, and looked like they could have been installed long before electricity was discovered.
If you’d like to help us buy our own Yes Friends castle with beautiful plug sockets and a flaming hot orange logo on one of the parapets, check out the new autumn collection.
Okay, okay, we’re not going to buy a castle. Bit too ambitious.
Maybe we could change the fashion industry instead? Small goals.
The new collection is all the usual good things: ethical, sustainable, made by garment workers paid good wages and you can even tip them directly.
Plus, it looks great when you’re mid-backflip.
